Severe Illness Cancer Benefit

Protect yourself against the financial strain of cancer

Many of us think it won’t happen to us, but the reality is that cancer affects a staggering 25% of South Africans. If not you it could happen to someone you know. As Wealthsmiths™, we believe in planning for tomorrow to safeguard your future. This is why we’ve introduced the new Sanlam Cancer Benefit, designed to give you and your loved ones proper financial cover.

A cancer diagnosis can take a serious toll on the cancer patient as well as their loved ones. Even if you have medical aid and gap cover, cancer treatment can be very expensive and place heavy financial strain on you and your family. The Sanlam Severe Illness Benefit helps you cover additional costs like travel to treatments centres, employing a carer for your children and missed work days.

About the Cancer Benefit

The Sanlam Severe Illness Cancer Benefit is designed to provide you with cover in the event of cancer diagnosis.

The Cancer Benefit covers you for a wide range of cancers and related illnesses including:

  • Cancers, tumours, leukaemias and lymphomas
  • Early cancers including early prostate cancer and female cancers
  • Cover for diagnosis of cancers not on our list, which causes severe damage

There are certain cancers that have a poor diagnosis even in their early stages, and they tend to require aggressive initial treatments and instant changes in lifestyle. Sanlam will pay 100% for these cancers, some of which include oesophageal, liver, lung, pancreatic, stomach and tongue cancer.

The Cancer Benefit is available as individual benefits, or can be selected in combination with other benefits, including other severe illness benefits.
