We want to recognise and reward work of outstanding quality. Our Sanlam Handmade Contemporary sponsorship showcases local craftsmanship by some of the best local furniture crafters, artisan product producers, top wine labels and micro-breweries.
We also promote language as an integral part of culture through our support of the Sanlam Prize for Youth Literature, Woordfees and Sanlam Radiodramakompetisie.
Since its inception in 1980, the prestigious Sanlam Prize for Youth Literature has consistently rewarded work of outstanding quality and has therefore become a trusted brand among both the general book buying public and the educational sector.
The prize has been awarded to more than 70 books and the list of winning authors reads like the who’s who of South Africa's youth writers – from Barrie Hough and Dumisani Sibiya to Tsireledzo Mushoma to name a few.

The annual Rotary Art Festival is best known for showcasing the works of talented artists and has become a highlight on the arts and culture calendar. In 2015 the event gave 55 artists a platform, with over 500 carefully selected artworks on show. Special guest artists have included the likes of Paul Botes, Vivien Budge, Abe Mathabe, Chrysoula Argyros, Dini Condy and Helen Day.
A wide range of different types of art and techniques are usually featured, to cater for all tastes and budgets. The Rotary Arts Festival has it all, from printmaking, figures and form and botanical, to photographic, watercolour, and miniature artistry. A percentage of the art sales and raffle fund proceeds go into funding special Rotary projects.
This year, the event is sponsored by Sanlam and will once again be held at Hyde Park Corner in Sandton, from 2-12 June 2016. For more information, contact Mark Franklin on 083 378 2092.
