Sanlam My Choice Funeral Plans

Traditional

More about the benefits you can choose:

This benefit provides a pay-out if someone you have covered on your policy dies. This could be your spouse, your children, your parents, your wider/extended family.

Premium Paid-up pays premiums on clients' behalf when the life assured reaches a certain age.

Provides transport for the deceased from a funeral home to a place of burial of choice – anywhere in South Africa. If needed it also pays for a family member to travel with the deceased and covers overnight accommodation.

If you become pregnant or unemployed, you can apply to keep your policy active for up to 12 months and not pay premiums. Your cover will be limited during this time. You can start paying again before the 12 months end. When you start paying your premium again you will still enjoy the same benefits as when your benefit started.

To keep up with the rising cost of living, you can choose to increase your premium every year to increase your cover.

If the policyholder dies before the policy anniversary after their 65th birthday the lives assured covered as at the date of death of the policyholder will continue to be covered without the payment of any premium for 6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Funeral insurance is a form of life insurance that pays money when someone dies.

Some funeral insurance policies, like the Sanlam My Choice Funeral Plan range, also give you other benefits.

Funeral insurance works in much the same way as other types of insurance. You decide how much money your family needs to pay for the cost of a funeral and then you pay a monthly premium.

If you or your loved ones die, the money is paid out.

A decision to take out funeral insurance should form part of a proper financial plan rather than simply buying policies.

The Sanlam My Choice Funeral Plans offer you a choice of five products, each with different benefits to suit individual needs:

  • Sanlam My Traditional Funeral Plan
  • Sanlam My Priority Funeral Plan
  • Sanlam My Tribute Funeral Plan
  • Sanlam My Prestige Funeral Plan
  • Flexibility - you choose the benefits and level of cover you want and can afford
  • A range of benefits for your specific needs
  • You can choose to cover yourself, your immediate family as well as your wider/extended family members
  • From only R80 a month you will be able to honour your loved ones with a funeral to be proud of
  • You can save any amount from R10 a month for 5 to 15 years

To claim, we will need these documents:

  • Fully completed claim form.
  • Certified copy of ID of claimant and deceased.
  • Certified copy of death certificate.
  • Proof of banking details (bank stamped statement/cancelled cheque/salary slip), if proceeds are payable into an account other than the premium paying account.
  • Certified copy of BI1663/DHA-1663 or B11680. All sections must be fully completed.
  • Fully completed police report (if cause of death is unnatural).
