CA Training Programme

Become a Sanlam apprentice and learn the tools of the trade with the CA Training Programme. The core outcome of this programme is to develop a pool of the best CAs with skills to strengthen our leadership bench.

Our 3-year training programme is accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Receive dedicated training in all SAICA specified competencies. This includes financial management, risk management and governance, taxation, and management decision-making.

Who are we looking for?

You should have obtained your Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTAs) or be eligible to write the board exam before commencement of the training programme.

The following key criteria must be met:

No previous permanent work experience required/ Less than 1 year of formal working experience

Academic performance record average of at least 60%

Leadership in community, university or sport activities

Sanlam CA Insights Experience

We invite you to come and experience the Sanlam way and gain some insights from our Financial Director, Chief Financial Officers, and current CA trainees across the Sanlam Group into what it will be like to do your CA training with us.

This year we will be selecting applicants that have applied for the CA Training Programme 2022 to join the Insights Experience which will start in the first week of July 2021. We will be communicating to selected candidates in June 2021.

Please note: as this is an insights programme, remuneration is excluded.

How do I apply?

Only online applications will be accepted.

Who can apply?

You should have obtained your Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTAs) or be eligible to write the board exam before commencement of the training programme in January 2022.

If my application is successful, when do I start working?

The programme start date is 01 January 2022.

Where are the Sanlam graduate positions based?

The CA programme is run from Cape Town, with potential rotations to Johannesburg. Should you not be based in Cape Town, you would have to relocate. Sanlam offers assistance with relocation.

What is the closing date for applications?

15 June 2021.

Can I apply if I am a foreign national?

Foreign Nationals from the following countries will be considered for the CA Training Programme: Kenya, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Morocco.

I am not a recent graduate, can I still apply?

The Graduate Leadership Programme is designed for graduates with no permanent work experience. For positions requiring more experience, please visit www.sanlam.co.za/careers.
