Western Cape open water swimming at its best.

We are proud to sponsor the Sanlam Cape Mile – an exciting open water swim that takes place in some of the most beautiful settings the Western Cape has to offer. For the third year in a row, keen swimmers from around the country are offered the chance to take part in a well-organised, safe mass swim at the Eikenhof Dam in Grabouw, Western Cape.

Entrants can choose between an exhilarating full mile (1.6km) and a refreshing 500m swim.

Race Information

Here’s all the information you need to choose your race and make sure you do the necessary to enter on time.

  • Date: Sunday, 18 February 2018
  • Start and Finishing Venue: Eikenhof Dam, Grabouw Country Club
  • Distances:
    • Main event – 1 Mile (1.6km)
    • Lite event – 500m
  • Start time: First wave starts at 8:30am
  • Entry fee – 1 Mile: R170
  • Entry fee – 500m: R70
  • Pre entries open: Entries are open
  • Pre entries close: 15 February 2017
  • Race pack collection: Grabouw Country Club on Sunday, 19 February 2017 between
  • 6:00am - 11:30am

Registration takes place at the following venues on the following dates:

  • Speedo Store Canal Walk: Friday, 17 February 2017 between 11:00am and 08:00pm
  • Grabouw Country Club: Sunday, 19 February 2017 between 6:00am and 11:30am

Route Description

Here’s all the information you need to choose your race and make sure you do the necessary to enter on time.

Be part of the second consecutive Sanlam Cape Mile at the Eikenhof Dam in Grabouw, Western Cape on Sunday, 19 February 2017. To choose your swim, here are the descriptions for the Full Route (1.6 km) and the Lite Route (500m).

Dependant on the dam water levels, which would be determined closer to the time, there are two possible routes:

Option 1: Two Lap Route

The two lap route will start at the right-hand side of the Grabouw Country Club on the Eikenhof Dam. Four buoys will demarcate the route which is set to finish on the left-hand side of the Grabouw Country Club. The course will be supported by canoeists with medical staff at hand.

Option 2: Single Lap Route

The single lap route starts and finishes at the same location, to the left-hand side of the Grabouw Country Club on the Eikenhof Dam. Four to five buoys will demarcate the route, which will be supported by canoeists with medical staff at hand.

To ensure that you enjoy a safe Sanlam Cape Mile swim, familiarise yourself with some important rules as well as the One Mile at a Time Ts & Cs.
