Takalani Sesame is the South African adaptation of the internationally acclaimed education programme, Sesame Street. It teaches literacy, numeracy, and basic life skills to children between the ages of 4 and 8, and enables millions of children to receive basic education in a way that is both exciting and relatable.
Takalani Sesame is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2020 – and Sanlam has been a proud sponsor of this initiative from the start. The programme is an educational force for change that has greatly impacted many children across the country.

In celebration of Sanlam’s 20-year partnership with Takalani Sesame, we asked award-winning South African music duo, Mafikizolo, to produce a song for us. The song captures the spirit behind Takalani Sesame, which is to educate children across the country through fun, dance, and play.
Join in on the excitement and celebrate with us by watching the music video below, and be sure to catch our furry friends every weekday on SABC 2.
Basma is an energetic, almost-6-year-old, purple monster, always ready for action!
Chicken is a helpful heroine always flocking to her friends for fun and games.

Unfortunately, due the Coronavirus all Kwa-Sanlam educational kids’ towns are closed nationwide. As soon as it’s safe again, we’ll let you know where you can meet your favourite Furry Friends. So watch this space because they can’t wait to meet you in person!
Once we’re back, be sure to catch the Muppets at various malls and schools across the country. Visit the different characters at their education-stations, and encourage your children to get involved in the fun learning experiences:
This is the seventh year running that the Takalani Sesame Muppets will be entertaining children and adults with a variety of fun activities and exciting prizes. Sanlam financial advisers will also be on site to provide parents with financial guidance and advice.
Every 1 counts, so bring the whole family – entrance is free!
