Go Cover is an innovative, on-demand insurance offering that allows you to buy instant accidental injury and death cover on your mobile devices, or desktop – whenever you need it.

Go Cover offers three flexible cover options. For a 24-hour period, the costs are:
R10 for up to R100 000 cover
R20 for up to R500 000 cover
R30 for up to R1 000 000 cover
You can buy cover for up to 30 days at a time, with the daily rate decreasing as the period extends. Cover can be activated immediately, or within 30 days of purchasing. For example, one can buy 14 days of cover and set it to automatically begin next Tuesday at 9.30am.
Go Cover is ideal for mountain bikers, trail runners, climbers, rugby players – and even bungee jumpers. Use it when setting off on that road trip, taking a taxi ride, or for workplace protection. Whatever your adventure, pursuit, or everyday activity – simply flip it on, and we’ll have you covered. Go Cover will further pay out on top of any other insurance.

Go Cover insurance plans are issued by Sanlam Life Insurance Limited (Reg. no. 1998/021121/06), a Licensed Financial Services and Registered Credit Provider (NCRCP43).
Go Cover is available to all South African citizens, and can further be purchased by foreigners and travellers while within South Africa. Foreigners will only be covered against incidents that occur in South Africa, whereas South African citizens are covered against accidents anywhere in the world except the territories listed in the exclusions of terms and conditions. There are no age restrictions, but note that accidental death cover is limited to R30 000 for children between 6 and 14, and R10 000 for kids under 6.
Go Cover is available to purchase regardless of how much or how little insurance you already have. Whether you have life insurance, medical aid, or gap cover you can still buy Go Cover on top of these.
In this sense, Go Cover payouts will be on top of any other insurance you may have. If you have medical aid and all your medical expenses are covered, you will still receive your Go Cover payout - if you meet the claims criteria. Go Cover is intended to compensate you for the difficulty experienced when you sustain any of the injuries we cover.
Go Cover is not intended to replace the need for Medical Aid, and shouldn’t be considered an alternative to it.
Go Cover is not a form of indemnity insurance and the payouts are therefore not influenced by actual medical expenses. The injury payouts from Go Cover are as stipulated in the contract, and the respective amount listed will be paid when you meet the injury claim criteria. The variable cost of treatment isn’t taken into account. Go Cover payouts might therefore be much more, or less, than your actual medical expenses relating to the injury.
At this stage, no – but we are working on it! Currently the person assured must be the same as the person purchasing or redeeming the cover.

The policy provides cover for accidental death and accidental injuries only. This excludes all natural causes. If we admit a claim, we will pay the cover amount linked to the particular claim event as set out below:

You will need to download our free Go Cover app to your mobile device from either the App Store or Play Store. Once launched, you will have the option of signing in via Google or Facebook, or via email or SMS. You will then be signed in directly, or asked to enter a verification code (sent to you via email or SMS).
Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can both buy and activate cover from either your mobile device, or via the Go Cover website.
Cover can be purchased within the app or on the website. For your first buy, you will be prompted to submit personal details – including a beneficiary, and a contact person. Card payment details will also be required on first purchase. You will be able to change these at any time in Profile in the app Menu. For subsequent purchases, simply:
It is possible to purchase cover which overlaps with existing cover. Note that respective benefit amounts are not accumulative across multiple, overlapping contracts. Claims will only be paid against the single contract with the highest benefit amount at any given time.
After purchasing Go Cover, you have a 5-minute window during which your policy can be cancelled. Once this period has passed, you can no longer cancel it.
To cancel: in the app home page, select the cover that you would like to cancel. You will be taken to the full Cover Details page. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the Cancel Policy option. Note that once a policy is cancelled, the same plan cannot be reactivated at a later stage.
You can currently purchase Go Cover online with your credit card (VISA and Mastercard), or selected debit cards - regardless of the country of issue. Please check with your issuing bank in the event you are unable to make an online purchase – individual conditions may apply.

Your beneficiary is the person who will receive the insurance pay-out in the unfortunate event of your accidental death. If other than your beneficiary, your contact person is the one who will be informed of your ongoing Go Cover purchases. In the event that you are unable to inform us of an incident or claim, your contact person (if not your beneficiary) should get in touch with us and let us know.
You can change your personal details at any time. Simply select the Profile option from the app Menu and click on the Edit button next to the field you would like to change.
All card data is held within a secure Payment Gateway. No card details are stored within the app, or our service layer. Our service layer is operated from a certified data centre, compliant with POPI (Protection of Personal Information Act) and data protection provisions - applicable in the EU and South Africa. Sanlam Group security policies are in force, in addition to an independent assessment by an internationally certified cybersecurity consultancy.
If you have a conventional promotional voucher code (numbers and/or letters), go to the Promotions page in the app Menu, and click on the Voucher Code button. Then enter and redeem your voucher.
If you are presented with a Go Cover QR code (usually in the shape of a square, 2-dimensional block), you can scan it with your device’s on-board QR scanner. This should automatically open the Go Cover app (if you already have it downloaded to your device). Alternatively, select Promotions in the app Menu and click on the Scan Code button.
Yes. However, the initial purchasing of cover, and the confirmation of a cover activation time, does require the device to be on and connected to a network. But once you have bought cover and confirmed the activation time, our centrally located systems are able to deliver, manage, and maintain functionality independent of your device. Regardless of whether it’s on or if there is connectivity.
All claims can be submitted via the Claims section on the Go Cover website. We strive to settle claims as quickly as possible. The duration of the process will depend on the complexity of the claim.
To claim for an accidental injury, you will need to provide details of the incident, medical information, and (in the event of a crime) the case details.

You can claim on your Go Cover policy up to 6 months after the incident.
To claim for accidental death, you will need to provide the personal information of the deceased, details of death, details of contact person/beneficiary, and the relevant case number.

Open the main app menu and click on your name in the blue bar at the top. Tap the edit button under Personal Details and simply update your mobile number. Click on the orange tick to save your changes, and enter the one time pin once you’ve received it via SMS.
Purchase a new sim card, and contact your mobile network to do a sim swap and restore your old number. Install the Go Cover app on your new phone and log in with your mobile number as you usually would.
