Bongani B. Mncwango
He has served in various positions with escalating levels of responsibility in blue-chip companies in South Africa and the United States. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Sanlam Healthcare Management (Pty) Ltd.
He has over 8 years of executive healthcare and FMCG related experience. Overall, he has over 15 years of general executive experience and has spent more than 12 years as manager in the supply chain to the mining, construction, petrochemical, automotive and general industrial sectors. Mncwango studied both in South Africa and the United States and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Wits) and a Doctorate in Business Administration (California).
P A du Plessis
Riaan du Plessis qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981, after which he held the position of Associate Professor in Accountancy at the University of Pretoria for ten years. During this time, he also headed the Internal Audit Division at Medihelp medical scheme and acted as Financial Director of Sonneblom Films.
He joined Medihelp in 1993 on a full-time basis as Executive Manager: Marketing and Membership. It was in this position that he initiated the Scheme’s Managed Healthcare Division in 1995.
In 2002, he joined BESTmed Medical scheme as General Manager of the Managed Care Division, the same position he currently holds at Sanlam Healthcare Management.
His 25 years’ worth of experience in the medical scheme industry includes managed care, auditing, systems development, marketing, membership administration, product development, tariff negotiation and contracting on the basis of alternative remuneration models.
Nadia Hassan
Nadia currently serves as the Senior Manager: Marketing and Corporate Affairs. She has over 20 years experience in the corporate environment. Her resume includes companies such as Total South Africa, Telkom, Standard Bank and Virgin Management.
Nadia holds a Bsc. degree from Wits, studied Marketing & Market Research at Unisa, and has full accreditation with the Institute of Marketing Management.
Wicus Kotzé
Wicus currently serves as General Manager: Finance & IT at Sanlam Healthcare Management (Pty) Ltd.
He has over 14 years of executive healthcare-related experience with special emphasis on financial management. Overall, he has spent almost 27 years in financial management within the service sector.
Wicus studied in South Africa and holds an Honours degree in Accounting. Before joining BESTmed Medical Scheme he served as the General Manager: Finance at Abakor Ltd for 12 years.
Pieter van Zyl
He has served in various positions and capacities in the life and healthcare insurance industries and is currently in the employ of Sanlam Healthcare Management (SHM), an accredited third-party administrator of medical schemes in South Africa.
He has more than 13 years related experience at an executive level in the medical schemes industry. He studied at the University of Pretoria, full-time and part-time, and holds a teaching degree (BA-ED) and Honors degree (B-Com Hons) in Human Resources Management.
He is currently finalising his dissertation for his Masters degree in Human Resources Management and has been lecturing part-time at the University of Pretoria.
Rudolph Olivier
Rudolph has over 17 years experience in the healthcare industry of which more than 9 were in an executive role responsible for Finance, IT and Member Administration. He currently serves as Ass. General Manager: IT, Research and Compliance at Sanlam Healthcare Management (Pty) Ltd.
Before venturing into the healthcare industry and after completion of his articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Rudolph held various positions in Financial Management and Internal Auditing in the Food and Armaments Procurement Industries.
He holds an Accounting degree (B.Compt) from UNISA.
