Why do you need a business mentor?

Business mentors are experienced and successful business people who volunteer to help entrepreneurs through the often difficult start-up period, dispensing advice, helping them steer clear of pitfalls, and often teaching them invaluable life lessons in the process.

A suitable mentor is one that has reached goals similar to what you aim to do, and with similar values, someone with time and energy to help you achieve such goals.

Mentors are coaches - not consultants – so they can’t do the work for you. They can only guide you. And no mentor will know everything about every facet of your business, so you may end up with many different mentors for different categories of business such as:

  • Accounting, cash-flow projections, financial planning and budgets, financial viability, company law and tax
  • Marketing, advertising, sale
  • Planning and merchandising
  • Human resource management, labour law and payroll
  • Importing/exporting
  • Business plans
  • Project management Black economic empowerment facilitation

Sanlam Cobalt use Business Partners for mentorship.
