The South African Amateur Championship is the premier event on the SAGA calendar. Many of today's high-profile golfers took their first golfing steps in this championship, which dates back to 1892. It was 10 years ago that a fresh-faced 17 year-old named Trevor Immelman won the SA Amateur at Humewood Golf Club.
The Glacier SA Amateur Golf Championship was played from 1-5 March 2010 at East London Golf club. The event starts with a 36-hole qualifier, in which 168 players compete. On conclusion of the qualifier, the 64 leading players will go into a match play competition to determine the Glacier SA Amateur Golf Champion for 2010.
