Anyone who needs help managing their money can benefit: surviving spouses who have never been involved with financial matters; senior citizens who no longer want to be involved; elderly people in retirement homes; South Africans abroad who still have assets here; foreigners who have assets in South Africa; inexperienced people (including guardians of minors) with substantial assets that require skillful management.

How does it work?

You give Sanlam Trust a mandate to take care of your assets and general money matters (big or small), decide how you want them managed, and your personal manager does the rest. You dictate the level of our involvement and we assess your situation regularly to respect your wishes.

What can Sanlam Trust FinAssist do for you?

The functions of this new service include:

• Administering assets strictly in terms of your mandate
• Insuring and maintaining the assets
• Investing funds in consultation with experts
• Medical fund and other premium payments
• Paying any other agreed-upon accounts
• Registering at SARS, if necessary, and completing annual income tax returns as well as provisional tax returns
• Regular revision of your mandate to ensure that it meets your current needs
• Holding meetings with you on request, and minuting the discussions
• Recording all transactions and balancing the bank account on a monthly basis
• Keeping record of your particulars and updating these regularly on the Sanlam Trust database
• Issuing administrative statements to you on an annual (or ad hoc) basis
• Regular internal as well as external auditing of all assets under management
