Our Policy

Sanlam realises the potential impact that HIV/Aids has on our industry. This is why we’ve developed a HIV/Aids policy, to ensure we create a working environment that attracts, trains and retains skilled people.

We strive to ensure a working environment where employees living with HIV/Aids are protected from unfair discrimination and stigmatisation and all employees have access to training, information and counselling services relating to HIV/Aids.

The objectives of our HIV/Aids policy are to:

  • prevent unfair discrimination and prejudice against employees living with HIV;
  • minimise fear and panic among employees;
  • ensure stability and productivity in the workplace;
  • encourage disclosure by HIV-positive employees without fear of victimisation or prejudice;
  • enable line management to respond appropriately in the event of an HIV/Aids-related case;
  • minimise Sanlam’s liability to wrongful conduct by our employees in relation to HIV/Aids; and
  • empower employees to prevent the spread of HIV/Aids by training and education.

We’ve initiated a variety of initiatives to realise the objectives of the policy.
