Women Entrepreneurs in Agriculture

With this competition Sanlam, in conjunction with LandbouWeekblad, wants to honour all those hardworking and innovative women in agriculture for the extraordinary role they play in the welfare of rural communities and the country. This year sees the fifth of this annual competition and Sanlam will reward the winner with a R65 000 prize while finalists will receive R5 000 each; other prizes of R2 000 each will also be awarded.


Who may enter the competition?
Any woman owning and managing a viable and sustainable business by capitalising on an entrepreneurial opportunity can enter the competition provided that:


  • The business operates in the countryside;
  • The production factors of her business are related to agriculture either via capital, materials or labour;
  • Her business is legally compliant;
  • She owns the majority share (50% plus one share or more) of the enterprise; and
  • Her entrepreneurship and achievements are of such a nature that it serves as an inspiration for other women to do the same in similar circumstances.
